Account Deletion Policy
Effective Date: 24 July 2026
This page explains exactly what happens when you delete your BookMyGround account. It applies to both the Customer App and the Owner App, each of which has its own self-service account deletion feature.
1. How to Delete Your Account
You do not need to contact support to delete your account. From either app:
- Open Profile.
- Tap Delete Account (below Logout).
- Read the on-screen explanation of what will happen, and tick the confirmation checkbox.
- Confirm in the final dialog.
Your account is deleted immediately — there is no waiting period, and this action cannot be undone.
2. What Is Permanently Deleted
The following data, which belongs only to you, is permanently and immediately erased:
- Your account profile and login credentials (your Firebase Authentication account is deleted last, after everything else succeeds).
- Your favorites and recently viewed grounds.
- Your coupon wallet (unlocked/used coupon status).
- Your notification history and notification preferences.
- Your device's push-notification registration.
- Reviews you have written.
Once this data is deleted, we cannot recover it, even if you create a new account with the same email or phone number.
3. What Is Anonymized, Not Deleted
Some records cannot simply be deleted, because another person or our own financial records depend on them remaining intact and accurate:
- Your bookings. A booking is also the ground owner's business record, and (where relevant) part of our settlement/commission ledger. Instead of deleting it, we remove your identifying information — your name and phone number are replaced with a generic label (e.g. "Deleted User" / "Deleted Owner"), and your phone number is cleared. The booking's dates, amounts, and status are left unchanged, because they may still be relevant to the ground owner's own records.
- Referral rewards you were part of, and settlement records (for owners) — the same principle applies: identifying details are scrubbed, financial figures are preserved as-is.
We do this instead of full deletion so that the other party to a real transaction (the ground owner, or our own financial ledger) is not left with broken or inaccurate records because of an action only you took.
4. What Is Closed, Not Deleted (Ground Owners Only)
If you are a ground owner and you delete your account:
- Any grounds you listed are closed and put into maintenance mode, and are no longer bookable or visible to customers.
- Any tournaments you hosted are unpublished.
- Your ground/tournament names and contact phone number are scrubbed.
We do this rather than deleting your grounds outright because other customers may have real, valid bookings or team registrations against them — those bookings remain valid and visible to the customers who made them, even after your ground is closed.
5. What This Means for Other Users
If someone else has a completed or upcoming booking with you (as an owner) or through a ground you booked, deleting your account does not delete or invalidate that other person's booking record — only your own personally identifying information is removed from it, as described above.
6. Data We May Still Need to Retain
Where applicable law requires us to retain certain financial or transaction records for a minimum period (for example, for tax, accounting, or payment-related compliance), we retain the anonymized version of that record for as long as required, even after your account is deleted.
7. Irreversibility
Account deletion is permanent. We do not offer a "reactivate my account" option, an undo window, or account recovery after deletion. If you are unsure, consider simply logging out instead, or contact us with questions before proceeding.
8. Contact Us
If you delete your account but still see something you believe is a mistake, or if you have questions about this policy, contact us via the details in our Contact Us page. Note that we can only act on requests relating to your own account.
This document describes BookMyGround's actual account-deletion cascade as implemented in the app (the "Delete My Account" feature). It is provided as a production-ready draft and should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before being published as your final, binding policy.
